Toronto Maple Leafs Rumors: Goalie Trade Interest Picking Up
According to hockey insider and friend of the site, Kevin Weekes, the Toronto Maple Leafs should be considering adding another goaltender for some depth. With Matt Murray in and out of the lineup with injuries and Ilya Samsonov carrying the load, Weekes feels Leafs GM Kyle Dubas would be wise to add another netminder.
Big moves so far for the @MapleLeafs to round out their group & add more jam to their group. I think they need insurance in net, now the Goalie Trade Market has opened- will they acquire one before the Deadline ?@espn @NHL @NHLNetwork @TSNHockey @DKSportsbook #HockeyTwitter

The goalie market has been thin, however Joonas Korpisalo and Jonathan Quick were recently moved, which could kick start some more action. The Maple Leafs have been linked to a number of goalies at different times this season including Thatcher Demko of the Vancouver Canucks, Kevin Lankinen of the Nashville Predators and John Gibson of the Anaheim Ducks. Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet also reported on Thursday the Leafs are interested in Preds netminder Juuse Saros.
Dubas has a recently acquired first-round pick in '23, originally of the Boston Bruins in play as trade talks continue. The deadline is Friday at 3pm est and it's very likely we see the Leafs move the pick. If it's for goaltending help remains to be seen.
Speaking of netminders, look for youngster Joseph Woll to get the start on Thursday night in Calgary against the Flames as Toronto plays the back end of a back-to-back following a blowout loss to Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.
