Vancouver Canucks & Detroit Red Wings Complete Huge Trade
In a somewhat surprising move the Vancouver Canucks and Detroit Red Wings have completed a trade which sees defenseman Filip Hronek end up in Vancouver.
UPDATE: The Detroit #RedWings today acquired a 1st round pick (NYI) and a 2nd round pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for defenseman Filip Hronek and a 2023 4th round pick. pic.twitter.com/hKVavLT9uW

The move sees the Canucks ship out a first-round pick, the one they received for Bo Horvat, along with a second rounder in '23. They'll receive Hronek and a '23 fourth-round pick in the process.
Hronek is 25-year-old right-handed defenseman who is signed through next season at $4.4 million. He's appeared in 60 games this season, recording 38 points. The Canucks shipped out Luke Schenn to the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier this week and this will help replace some minutes on the right side of their blue line.
Hronek, just traded to the Canucks for a first and second round pick, is injured right now (upper body). It looked like he was wearing a sling last night leaving the arena, but it was under an overshirt so not 100% positive

Filip Hronek, acquired by VAN, is a two-way top four defenceman who plays in all situations and likes to carry the puck in transition. This season has been easily his strongest - did the Wings see it as an outlier? #Canucks pic.twitter.com/jfasmiy05Q

The Canucks continue to try and re-tool on the fly as they aren't committed to a full rebuild. They continue to talk trades on Brock Boeser, JT Miller and Conor Garland.
