Chicago Blackhawks Place Forward On Waivers
Chicago Blackhawks forward Joey Anderson has been placed on waivers.
Anderson was one of the many pieces that the Blackhawks acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Jake McCabe/Sam Lafferty trade. When it was announced that Anderson was heading to Chicago, it seemed that the 24-year-old would finally get the chance to receive consistent NHL playing time. However, now things have changed on that front with this waiver placement.
When noting that Anderson has the tools to potentially become a bottom-six forward, there could be some teams willing to take a chance on him for the final portion of the year. The Minnesota native would be a serviceable depth forward at worst for them. With that, he also is still under team control as a restricted free agent this summer.
In 32 games this season split between the Maple Leafs and Blackhawks, Anderson has five goals and three assists. We will now need to wait and see if he gets the chance to improve upon these season stats with another NHL team from here.
