Colorado Avalanche Given Brutal Injury News
The Colorado Avalanche have been given brutal injury news, as superstar defenseman Cale Makar will be out indefinitely due to a lower-body injury.
With the playoffs being right around the corner, it is not ideal in the slightest that Makar will be out for an indefinite amount of time. He is their top defenseman by a country mile, and it will be immensely difficult to replace him while he's gone. He last played on April 1 against the Dallas Stars.
Makar has been having another excellent season, but he also has had some injury trouble along the way. In 60 games on the season, the 24-year-old has 17 goals, 66 points, and a plus-16 rating. Now, it seems quite possible that this is where his regular season stats will end.
The Avalanche will be hoping that Makar is ready to go by the playoffs. We will need to wait and see if the Norris Trophy and Conn Smythe winner will be good to go from here.
Darren Helm will also be out indefinitely due to a lower-body injury. He has been limited to only 11 games this season, where he has zero points and a minus-1 rating.
