Columbus Blue Jackets Rumors: Forward Becoming Trade Candidate
The 2022-23 season was a complete and utter disaster for the Columbus Blue Jackets, and major changes could be on the way because of it. As a result of this, there have been rumblings that the Blue Jackets could listen to offers for Boone Jenner this offseason.
Jenner generated a lot of interest around the league leading up to the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline, but the Blue Jackets opted to keep him around. However, things could change on that front during the offseason if teams are willing to send the Blue Jackets a big enough offer for the skilled forward.
Jenner carries a $3.75 million cap hit until the end of the 2025-26 season, so he would be far more than just a rental if acquired by another club. As a result, that naturally makes increases his value, so it would likely take a first-round pick and notable prospect to successfully acquire him.
Jenner appeared in 68 games this season with the Blue Jackets, where he had 26 goals, 45 points, and 129 hits. We will need to wait and see if he ends up being moved during the summer from here.
