Detroit Red Wings Rumors: Forward Emerging as Trade Candidate
The Detroit Red Wings are expected to make changes to their roster this offseason. One player who is starting to emerge as a trade target because of this is winger Filip Zadina.
Zadina's name picked up some steam as we inched closer to the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline, but a move did not come to fruition. However, with the Red Wings looking to improve their group for the 2023-24 season, there is reason to believe that the former top prospect could be on the move if it helps them land a player who will make them better immediately.
Zadina has had trouble cementing himself as a legitimate top-six forward, and his 2022-23 season was particularly underwhelming. In 30 games, the 2018 sixth-overall pick had three goals, four assists, and a minus-5 rating.
We will now need to wait and see what happens with Zadina from here, but perhaps a change of scenery may be exactly what he needs to take that next step in his development. Expect teams like the Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks, Philadelphia Flyers, and Montreal Canadiens to be in the mix for his services.
