Florida Panthers Sign Forward
The Florida Panthers have added to their prospect pool, as they have signed Ryan McAllister to a three-year, entry-level contract.
McAllister was starting to generate plenty of interest as an undrafted free agent, and it is easy to understand why. The 21-year-old forward just put together a fantastic first collegiate season with Western Michigan University, as he had 13 goals and 49 points in just 39 games played. This was after he posted a 139-point campaign in 60 games with the Brooks Bandits of the AJHL, so he is clearly a player who can create offense well. Thus, it makes sense that the Panthers are now taking a chance on him.
McAllister's ELC will begin next season, and he is likely to begin his professional career with the Charlotte Checkers. It will be intriguing to see how much of an impact he can make in the AHL. If his scoring touch at the collegiate level translates over to the AHL, don't be surprised to see him with the Panthers in the near future.
