Nashville Predators Rumors: Forward Becoming Offseason Trade Candidate

The Nashville Predators were major sellers at the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline, and that is expected to carry over to the summer. One specific player who is emerging as an offseason trade candidate for the Predators because of this is Matt Duchene.

The Predators reportedly listened to offers for Duchene leading up to the deadline. However, with several playoff teams having limited cap space, it was hard for the Predators to move him and his $8 million cap hit. However, with teams having more money available during the summer due to expiring contracts, it should be easier for Nashville to find the veteran forward another home. This is especially so if they are willing to retain a bit of his salary (like they did with Mattias Ekholm).

In 71 games this season with the Predators, Duchene scored 22 goals and recorded 56 points. Overall, it was another solid year for the 32-year-old, so teams looking to add to their top six are likely to call the Predators about him this summer from here.
