NHL Rumors: 3 Teams Expected to Target Ryan O'Reilly This Offseason
Ryan O'Reilly is one of the top pending UFAs heading into the summer, and he is expected to get plenty of interest around the league because of it. Let's go over three specific teams who are expected to make a push for him from here.
Toronto Maple Leafs: The Toronto Maple Leafs are likely going to try to re-sign O'Reilly this offseason. Before his injury, the 32-year-old was fitting in beautifully, as he had five points in his first eight games. If he's willing to take a discount to stay in Toronto, don't be surprised to see the veteran and the Leafs come to an agreement.
Colorado Avalanche: The Colorado Avalanche could consider making a run for O'Reilly this offseason. After all, they were linked to him leading up to the deadline, and J.T. Compher is a pending UFA. Thus, perhaps this is a reunion that we could see come to fruition, as there appears to be a good match on paper.
Carolina Hurricanes: The Carolina Hurricanes also stand out as another club that could aim to sign O'Reilly this summer. Since losing Vincent Trocheck, they have been in need of a 2C, and O'Reilly could be a great fit for that role for them. With that, he would provide them with more leadership, and that is something they may need if Jordan Staal walks this summer.
