NHL Rumors: Calgary Flames Linked to Defenseman
After missing the playoffs this season, the Calgary Flames are ready for a busy offseason. One area that they are expected to improve is their right side, and Radko Gudas is expected to be on their radar because of it.
Gudas is a pending unrestricted free agent who should get a lot of attention on the open market. After all, he is a very solid bottom-pairing defenseman who plays a reliable defensive game and is extremely physical. He is exactly the kind of player that Flames head coach Darryl Sutter loves as well.
With the Florida Panthers this regular season, Gudas had two goals, 17 points, 312 hits, and a plus-14 rating. Overall, it was a solid year for him, and he could be exactly the kind of defenseman Calgary needs on their bottom pairing.
Nevertheless, we will need to wait and see if the Flames end up signing him this summer from here. It certainly is not guaranteed of course, as several teams should be in the mix for his services.
