NHL Rumors: Veteran Calgary Flames Center May Be Done With Team After 2023
The Calgary Flames were one of, if not the single most disappointing team in the NHL this past season, following up an incredible 2021/22 season by missing the playoffs, however, not every player on the team fit into that same category.
One name that had a career year was 2007 first-round pick Mikael Backlund, who ended the year with 19 goals and 37 assists for 56 points, but after 15 seasons in the NHL, it appears his time in Calgary could be coming to an end soon.
In the teams end of season interviews, Backlund expressed his desire to compete for a Stanley Cup, and with just one-year left on his Flames contract, it appears that unless something changes in a big way, the two-way forward could finally be on his way out of Calgary.
