Philadelphia Flyers Rumors: Defenseman Becoming Trade Candidate

Tony DeAngelo has been scratched by the Philadelphia Flyers for three straight games. When asked by reporters, head coach John Tortorella said that DeAngelo is healthy and that he hasn't talked to him about why he's being scratched. As a result, this could be an indicator that the Flyers will look to move DeAngelo this summer.

Former GM Chuck Fletcher traded three draft picks to acquire DeAngelo this offseason, and now it's a move that isn't looking too amazing for the Flyers. With the Flyers entering a potential rebuilding stage and DeAngelo now being healthy scratched for multiple games in a row, it may be best for both parties to move on.

While performing at his best, there's no question that DeAngelo is a solid offensive defenseman. He has produced from the point this season well, as he has 11 goals and 42 points in 70 games. However, he also sports a minus-27, so he is likely being benched for his defensive mistakes.

Nevertheless, we will now need to wait and see if the Flyers shop DeAngelo from here. He carries a $5 million cap hit until the end of next season.
