Pittsburgh Penguins Rumors: 3 Offseason Trade Targets
Welcome to NHL Trade Rumors' Offseason Trade Targets series. During it, we will be discussing three players each team in the NHL should try to acquire through trade.
In this latest episode of the series, we will be looking at the Pittsburgh Penguins. After missing the playoffs, we should expect them to have a busy offseason to try to get things back on track.
J.T. Miller: The Penguins were heavily linked to J.T. Miller and had trade talks with the Vancouver Canucks about him. As a result, it is fair to assume that they will aim to acquire him again before his contract extension and no-movement clause kick in on July 1. He would give the Penguins another star to work with as they aim to get things back on track.
Brock Boeser: The Penguins were also involved in the Brock Boeser sweepstakes before the deadline passed. Therefore, they also could consider bringing him in instead of Miller. With Jason Zucker being a pending UFA, they will need to replace him with a top-six winger if he walks. Boeser fits that description while performing at his best. ,
John Gibson: Goaltending issues were a major reason why the Penguins failed to make the playoffs this year. As a result, they should consider making a push for Pittsburgh native John Gibson. The Anaheim Ducks are expected to shop him this season and although he has struggled this season, he has shown in the past that he can be an elite goaltender. Perhaps playing with a better team in front of him could help him get things back on track.
