San Jose Sharks Sign Goalie Prospect
The San Jose Sharks have signed Magnus Chrona to a two-year, entry-level contract. His contract will begin immediately.
Chrona just completed his senior season with the University of Denver and thrived during it. In 32 appearances, he sported a 22-9-0 record, 2.19 GAA, and a .916 SV%. After a season like this, it makes sense that the Sharks have decided to sign him. Now he is officially joining a team who is need of a new goaltender.
Chrona was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, but his rights were traded to the Sharks in 2021 in exchange for Fredrik Claesson. As a result, the Sharks had priority to get him signed to his ELC, and they have successfully done so.
Chrona could see NHL action over this final portion of the season and will be in the running for a permanent job in the NHL next season. We will need to wait and see how well he performs as a Shark from here.
