Sharks Goaltender Finished in San Jose
The San Jose Sharks will look much different in 2023-24 as they kicked off their full rebuild this season. While moving Erik Karlsson or Tomas Hertl appear long shots at this point, expect to see a new tandem in their crease next season.
According to GM Mike Grier, don't expect to see James Reimer back next season. The veteran netminder is a pending free agent and will not be re-signed. Reimer had a down season in 2022-23, posting a 12-21-8 record with a 3.48 GAA and a dismal .890 save %.
Grier says #SJSharks probably won't have same goalie tandem next year. Kahkonen is signed next year, while Reimer is a UFA, so it sounds like Sharks are letting Reimer walk

At 35 years old, Reimer will be in tough to find anything but a one-year league minimum deal come July when free agency opens. He's never had any Stanley Cup Playoff success and was absolutely horrible at times this season so there's going to be a ton of question marks heading into the summer on the interest level. One thing's for sure, Reimer won't be back in the Shark Tank.
