Winnipeg Jets Rumors: Lightning Forward On Team's Radar
The Winnipeg Jets have been knocked out of the playoffs, and now they are set for an offseason of changes. A major reason for their early exit from the playoffs was their lack of scoring depth, and now they are expected to be one of the teams to pursue Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ross Colton this summer because of it.
Colton is a pending restricted free agent, but he is expected to be dealt due to the Lightning's lack of cap space, and he's due for a raise. This is understandable, as he has emerged as a solid third-line forward in the NHL who can kill penalties. As a result, it makes sense that the Jets are now considering him as a trade target for the offseason.
Several teams like the Vancouver Canucks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Detroit Red Wings, and Calgary Flames have been linked to Colton, so the Jets will have competition to acquire him. We will now need to wait and see if Colton becomes a Jet this offseason from here. On paper, there appears to be a great match here.
