Maple Leafs Rumors: Favorite Named in GM Search

The Toronto Maple Leafs general manager search is well underway and from all accounts it does sound like there is a heavy favorite as far as candidates go in the process. According to multiple reports, Brad Treliving is leading the pack and it's 'his job to lose' at this point.

Elliotte Friedman in his 32T article says Brad Treliving is expected to meet with the Maple Leafs in Toronto this week.

Dreger on who could be the next Leafs GM (Leafs Lunch): “Brad Treliving jumps off the page for me, and the reason is look at the heavy lifting he had to do and grenades he had to juggle as GM of the Flames and some of it wasn’t pretty, but he did admirable work”.

Treliving has completed some heavy lifting in Calgary and isn't shy to make a big trade or spend some big dollars on the free-agent market. Calgary went 362-265-73 under Treliving's guidance, after being hired in 2014. 

Treliving and the Maple Leafs brass are expected to meet in person on Wednesday and there is some speculation brewing an announcement could be made as early as Monday of next week.
