Minnesota Wild Re-Sign Veteran Forward
The Minnesota Wild have signed Marcus Johansson to a two-year, $4 million contract extension.
The Wild acquired Johansson before the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline passed from the Washington Capitals. Overall, the 32-year-old proved to be an excellent addition to their group, as he recorded 18 points in 20 regular-season games following the move. He fits nicely in their forward group, and now he will be staying in Minnesota because of it.
MoJo also played for the Wild during the 2020-21 season, where he had six goals and 14 points in 36 games. Clearly, he made a far bigger impact during his second tenure with the Wild, and now he will be aiming to build off of it in 2023-24 and onward from here.
We will need to wait and see how Johansson performs for the Wild from here, but this looks like a solid signing on paper.
