Montreal Canadiens Rumors: Veteran Forward to be Shopped

The Montreal Canadiens are still rebuilding, and they are ready to make moves this summer because of it. Veteran forward Mike Hoffman was shopped during the regular season, and now that is expected to continue during this offseason as well.

At 33 years old, Hoffman just does not fit into Montreal's current rebuild, and it would make sense for them to move him. After all, the Kitchener native still has yet to add a Stanley Cup to his resume, and that is simply not going to happen with the Canadiens.

Hoffman appeared in 67 games last season, where he posted 14 goals to go along with 34 points. Overall, his days as a legitimate top-six forward may be over, but he still has the potential to provide solid secondary scoring in a middle-six role.

Hoffman is entering the final season of his contract and carries a $4.5 million cap hit. If the Canadiens retain a bit of his salary, there should be interest in him. Let's see if he finds a new home this offseason.
