NHL Rumors: 3 Dark Horse Free-Agent Destinations for Dmitry Orlov
Dmitry Orlov has made it known that he would prefer to play for either the Washington Capitals or Boston Bruins next season. However, due to their cap situations, that is not guaranteed. Thus, let’s discuss three dark horse landing spots for him this summer.
Los Angeles Kings: The Los Angeles Kings need help on the left side of their defensive group. It is one of their biggest weaknesses, and bringing in a legitimate top-four d-man like Orlov would be a great way to fix this. With that, Vladislav Gavrikov could also leave in free agency, and Orlov would be a big upgrade over him.
Seattle Kraken: The Seattle Kraken could be on the hunt for a left-shot, top-four defenseman this summer. Carson Soucy is a pending UFA, and bringing in Orlov to replace him would be massive. With Seattle being a playoff team this year, they should be looking to improve their group this summer.
Pittsburgh Penguins: The Pittsburgh Penguins missed the playoffs this year, and changes should be on the way because of it. Brian Dumoulin is a pending UFA, and Orlov would be a massive upgrade over him on the club’s top pairing with Kris Letang. Don’t be surprised if Pittsburgh pursues him because of it.
