NHLTR Mock Trade: Jets' Pierre-Luc Dubois to the Montreal Canadiens

Welcome to NHLTR mock trade series where we will showcase a potential 2023 offseason trade. From minor moves to major transactions, everything will be covered as we try to predict how the chips may fall this summer across the NHL.

Today's feature is a deal between the Montreal Canadiens and Winnipeg Jets. Jets forward Pierre-Luc Dubois has been rumored to have aspirations to be a Hab and word is from several of hockey's biggest insiders is the two teams chatted about parameters of a summer trade this offseason. Here's what we're predicting:

Jets trade Dubois to the Canadiens for Kirby Dach

Jets Perspective: Losing a 24-year-old center in the prime of his career isn't ideal, especially when you gave up on Patrik Laine to land him. However, Dach is two years younger, and heads to Winnipeg with the potential to create a new core of the team for the next 5-10 seasons. Dach behind Mark Scheifele would do wonders for his game and Scheifele would be a great mentor for the young pivot. Consider Dubois wants to leave, landing Dach would be a huge 'get' for the Jets.

Canadiens Perspective: Dubois is coming into his own in Winnipeg and last season recorded 63 points in 73 games. He has 80-point potential and if he works on his two-way game can become one of the more well-rounded centers in the league. Having Suzuki followed by Dubois would be a nicely balanced 1-2 punch down the middle. Yes, losing Dach is tough, but not when you get a 24-year-old proven pivot who has untapped potential. Dach also has issues staying healthy, playing only 58 games last season and not once playing a full season in the NHL. Once the Habs get back to the postseason, they will be able to rely on PLD as he's able to rise up in the big moments, posting 26 points in 38 playoff games so far in his 6-year career.

Who would win this trade?
