It's that time of year when hockey leagues are handing out the hardware. For a New York Islanders prospect, it's the Most Outstanding Player honors in the OHL. Matthew Maggio had a sensational season for the Windsor Spitfires, recording a league-leading 54 goals and 111 points in 66 games.

The Isles' 5th-round pick in the 2022 Draft also was a plus-41 on the season, and finished with a league-leading 311 shots, for 4.7 shots on goal per game.
He signed a well-deserved three-year entry-level contract with the NHL club on May 1st.
“This is the one you want to win as a player", Maggio told The Windsor Star. “Look at the names that have won it and it’s such a humbling list. So many are deserving of this award and a lot, with bright futures, could have won. To be in the same conversation is special.”
Maggio does indeed join an esteemed list; other winners of the Red Tilson Trophy in past years include Connor McDavid, Mitch Marner, Alex DeBrincat, Tyler Seguin and going back a little farther, Eric Lindros and Doug Gilmour, amongst many other esteemed names.
