Heading into the offseason, the Ottawa Senators are expected to pursue a top-four right-shot defenseman. Due to this, they are reportedly interested in pending UFA Damon Severson.

Severson is expected to test the market after another solid season with the New Jersey Devils. The 28-year-old had seven goals, 26 assists, and a plus-9 rating in 81 games. As a result, it makes sense that the Senators are considering him as an option to help strengthen their right side.

Severson is expected to get a ton of interest once he hits the market, as he is one of the best defensemen available in what is a weak free-agency class. As a result, the Senators will have a lot of competition if they hope to successfully sign him this summer.
