Ottawa Senators Rumors: Team Could Trade Star Forward By Draft Day
The Ottawa Senators may be considering trading forward Alex DeBrincat ahead of the draft due to his lukewarm interest in signing a long-term extension with the team, according to multiple sources around the league.
DeBrincat is currently a restricted free agent with a qualifying offer of $9 million, and he would become an unrestricted free agent after the upcoming season.

The Detroit Red Wings have been linked to DeBrincat in recent weeks, however, the St. Louis Blues, Calgary Flames, and the Pittsburgh Penguins are all also potential trade candidates.
This past season, in his Senators debut, the 25-year-old racked up 27 goals and 66 points over 82 games, a steep dropoff from his 41 goals and 78 point performance in 2021-22 with the Chicago Blackhawks.
We'll wait and see if a move does in fact come to fruition by Draft Day, but it's becoming more and more apparent it will.
