San Jose Sharks Rumors: Captain Becoming Trade Candidate
The San Jose Sharks are officially rebuilding under GM Mike Grier, and major changes are on the way because of it. Erik Karlsson is dominating the rumor mill right now, but captain Logan Couture is another veteran Shark who could be dealt this offseason.
Couture is still a solid top-six center at this point of his career, and that is made apparent by looking at his stats this season. On a bad Sharks team, the veteran scored 27 goals and recorded 67 points in 82 games. As a result, teams looking for help down the middle should be calling the Sharks this summer.
Couture carries an $8 million cap hit until the completion of the 2026-27 season, and that is expensive given his current production. However, when noting that the Sharks are rebuilding, there is a very good chance that they would be open to retaining salary. As a result, we will need to wait and see if the longtime Shark finds a new home this summer from here.
