Video: Samsonov Gives Awesome Answer When Asked About Bobrovsky's Play

It's the postgame clip that's gone viral on a Friday.

After goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky stonewalled the Toronto Maple Leafs once again and the Florida Panthers took a 2-0 series lead, Toronto netminder Ilya Samsonov was asked by a reporter if feels that Bobrovsky's elite play is a challenge to him:

"I don't give a f***," was Samsonov's matter-of-fact response.

But the reporter doubled-down, down and followed up with "Why not?"

"It doesn't matter for me," retorted Samsonov, "I'm doing my work, he's doing his work."

Samsonov was riled up for the entire interview, letting expletives fly two other times as well.

"It's hard stuff for us. Not what we wanna see... It's easy to say 'bad bounce' or 'bad, sh** rebound' or something, but this doesn't give a f*** because it's for losers."

Samsonov has had some very good performances for the Maple Leafs in these playoffs; he outplayed Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy the first round. Overall, however, he sports a 3.27 goals against average and .895 save percentage in eight games.

But he is not the reason that the Leafs are down in this second-round series. Far from it. Yet, he knows he needs to do better. “I go home and look in the mirror and ask what more I need to do.”

Getting back on the road should help. Away from the confines of Scotiabank Arena in these playoffs, Samsonov is 3-0 with a 2.32 GAA and a .922 SV%.

Game 3 is at FLA Live Arena on Saturday.
