Washington Capitals Rumors: Forward Becoming Free-Agent Target
The Washington Capitals missed the playoffs, and they will be looking to improve their roster in 2023-24 because of it. With their third line needing a boost, they are expected to target New York Islanders forward Pierre Engvall if he hits the free-agent market.
Following his trade from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Engvall proved to be a solid addition to the Islanders' roster. In 18 games as an Islander, he had five goals to go along with nine points in 18 regular-season games. Overall, he showed that he can produce solid secondary scoring, and that is something that the Capitals would benefit from adding more of.
Engvall is likely to receive interest from multiple teams this summer, as he has shown that he can be a decent third-line option. As a result, the Islanders will have some competition to sign him, so we will need to wait and see if they can land him from here. Other teams to pay attention to in the sweepstakes include the Winnipeg Jets, Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadiens, and Florida Panthers.
