3 Potential Trade Destinations for Senators Alex DeBrincat

The Ottawa Senators are reportedly further along in trade talks involving Alex DeBrincat than people think as Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet recently reported the team is listening to offers. DeBrincat is a pending restricted free agent who is due a massive contract extension this summer.

The Senators are wise to see what the market is like for the 25-year-old sniper. Here's a few teams who should be considered potential trade destinations this summer:

Carolina Hurricanes

The Hurricanes are looking to get heavier this summer but they are also looking for a game breaking. Too many times the team didn't have someone to take the game over and score a key goal and management will look to add a big name this offseason. DeBrincat fits the bill as he's capable of putting up 40 goals on a regular basis. Trading a star in the same conference though? Could be a tough sell for the 'Canes. The Sens would surely be asking for one of Carolina's defenseman as they are loaded on the blue line.

Calgary Flames

A more likely destination would be the Calgary Flames. A team that's looking to re-tool a little bit up front as they search for more offense under Craig Conroy. The Flames have a number of defenseman they can dangle and also have Daniel Vladar, a goaltender who appears to be the odd man out in Calgary.

Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks are a mess, there's no doubt about that, but they will do whatever they can to try and turn things around this offseason. Vancouver has Brock Boeser and Tyler Myers who they have tried to offload in the past and if some salaries are retained, there could be some potential here. If DeBrincat gets dealt from the Sens, expect to see him heading west.
