Anaheim Ducks Rumors: New Team Linked to Star Goalie John Gibson

A John Gibson trade is on the way, as the star netminder has made it known that he wants out. The real question is where he will end up. Several teams like the Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings, and Buffalo Sabres have been linked to him, but according to The Fourth Period, a new team has entered the mix - the Carolina Hurricanes.

Carolina is in an intriguing spot this summer. Frederik Andersen and Antti Raanta are both pending UFAs, and there is no guarantee that they will be back next season. They also have Pyotr Kochetkov who is ready for full-time NHL work. However, are the Hurricanes, who have Stanley Cup aspirations, okay with running Kochetkov as their full-time number-one netminder? That is doubtful.

Thus, bringing in Gibson in the event that Andersen and Raanta leave would make a lot of sense. It will be intriguing to see if they can do just that from here. It is clear that Gibson needs a change of scenery, and playing for a top-notch team like the Hurricanes would be a massive upgrade from the Anaheim Ducks.
