Arizona Coyotes Buyout 2 Players
The Arizona Coyotes have placed both Zack Kassian and Patrik Nemeth on unconditional waivers. Each player is set to be bought out.
Kassian was acquired by the Coyotes in a salary dump move by the Edmonton Oilers. The 32-year-old displayed massive signs of regression following the trade, as he had just two goals to go along with a minus-18 rating in 51 games played. The Windsor native will now be hoping that his toughness and grit are enough for him to land a contract for next season elsewhere.
Similar to Kassian, the Coyotes brought in his bad contract last offseason for assets but from the New York Rangers. Nemeth also struggled significantly in Arizona, posting just five assists and a minus-7 rating in 75 games.
With these buyouts, the Coyotes are saving $1.933 million of cap space for next season.
Overall, seeing these two players bought out is not all surprising. We will need to wait and see if they can find new homes in the NHL from here.
