Kampfer, a 34-year-old veteran, has had a varied NHL career, having played for teams such as the Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild, Florida Panthers, and New York Rangers.
He last appeared in the NHL during the 2020-21 season with the Bruins.
In the 2022-23 season, Kampfer spent the year in the AHL, splitting time between the Grand Rapids Griffins and Tucson Roadrunners.
