Boston Bruins Rumors: Star Forward Likely Hitting the Market

After trading Taylor Hall, it became clear the Boston Bruins' biggest objective is to re-sign Tyler Bertuzzi. However, a major snag has been hit, as Steve Conroy of the Boston Herald reported that a source close to Bertuzzi said that the scrappy winger is expected to hit to the open market.

Conroy also noted in his tweet that things can change quickly, so perhaps there is a chance that the Bruins could get something done with Bertuzzi. However, at this juncture, it seems more likely than not that Boston is set to lose Bertuzzi. If this does occur, the Bruins will be losing another forward, and it makes the Hall trade a bit more questionable.

If the Bruins lose Bertuzzi, they will likely be looking to sign a winger on July 1.

Several teams have been linked to Bertuzzi leading up to free agency, including the Florida Panthers, Dallas Stars, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Pittsburgh Penguins. It will be intriguing to see if Boston can keep him around, but things are not looking too good on that front right now.
