Calgary Flames Rumors: Noah Hanifin Linked to New Team

In a recent column for The Athletic, NHL insider Pierre LeBrun wrote that the Boston Bruins are one of the teams showing interest in Calgary Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin.

LeBrun noted that the Bruins (and other teams) have not given the Flames offers that they believe is fair value. As a result, the Bruins will need to step up their efforts if they hope to add the Massachusetts native to their blueline.

Hanifin has made it clear that he does not wish to re-sign with the club when his contract expires, making a trade appear to be inevitable. When noting that the Bruins are making major changes to their group this summer, it makes sense that they are looking at Hanifin. Dmitry Orlov will be gone, and Hanifin would be a major upgrade over Matt Grzelcyk in their top four.

In 81 games last season with the Flames, Hanifin posted seven goals, 38 points, and a plus-2 rating.

It will be intriguing to see if the Bruins can bring the hometown kid back to Boston from here.
