Canucks Linked To Flames Defenseman Amidst Potential Fire Sale

Craig Conroy, the Calgary Flames general manager, did not kick off the rebuild/re-tool on the right note. He got a weak return for a player who scored 34 goals, 73 points, and is on a great contract. With a return of Yegor Sharangovich and a third round pick, it seems like the team is headed into a breakdown. With that said, there has been interest in more players than just Tyler Toffoli.

The Flames are getting some interest in Chris Tanev as well since he has one year remaining on his contract and is very good in the defensive end. The end of the buyout window is still a few days away, so there's time for some more moves. One player we're watching in particular is Tyler Myers of the Vancouver Canucks. If he is bought out or moved, the Canucks' eye will be on Tanev for a spot on the right side of the team's defense, per Rick Dhaliwal.

The Canucks had a ton of trouble keeping the puck out of their net and have already made some serious changes to their defense. Considering the price the New Jersey Devils paid for the team's leading scorer on a better contract than Tanev for one final year, the Canucks should be pushing hard for a defensive player like this at the low cost he should be.
