Carolina Hurricanes Rumors: Defenseman Linked to 2 Teams
On the most recent edition of TSN Insider Trading, NHL insider Pierre LeBrun noted that if the Carolina Hurricanes have it their way, they will sign Brett Pesce to an extension. However, he then followed that up by saying that the Hurricanes will move him for a maximum return this summer if those talks do not amount to a new deal.

LeBrun also noted that the Buffalo Sabres are one of the teams who have been in contact with the Hurricanes about Pesce. This is not surprising at all. The Sabres need to improve the right side of their defensive group if they hope to make the playoffs next year, and bringing in a player like Pesce would do just that. He would be an immediate fit on their top pairing with Rasmus Dahlin and make the Sabres look much significantly better on paper.
NHL insider Darren Dreger also noted that the Edmonton Oilers are interested in Pesce. The Sabres could use a right-shot top-four defenseman, and Pesce would be a real upgrade over Cody Ceci.
Nevertheless, we will need to wait and see if Pesce gets moved or agrees to a new deal with the Hurricanes from here.
