Chicago Blackhawks Rumors: Forward Expected to be Free-Agent Target

Although the Chicago Blackhawks are rebuilding, they are in a position to make some additions this summer. After winning the draft lottery, they will need to bring in help for Connor Bedard, and Ivan Barbashev is starting to be linked to them as a possible free-agent target because of it.

Barbashev is due for a nice raise this summer after his strong year. In 82 regular-season games this season split between the St. Louis Blues and Vegas Golden Knights, he had 16 goals and 45 points. Yet, he has taken his game to another level during the playoffs, as he has 17 points in 21 games.

Barbashev would provide the Blackhawks with a forward who chips in offensively, plays a very solid defensive game, and is immensely physicality. Furthermore, he also can play all three forward positions, so he would fit virtually anywhere in their top six.

Nevertheless, we will now need to wait and see if the Blackhawks make a big push for Barbashev this summer from here. They have the money to do so.
