Detroit Red Wings Goalie Signs In Sweden

The former star goalie in Sweden is returning home.

Detroit Red Wings goalie Victor Brattstrom has signed a one-year contract with HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League.

This decision came at a pivotal time for Brattstrom, as he was poised to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

Brattstrom had a chance to demonstrate his skills during the 2022-23 season with AHL team Grand Rapids, where he made 18 appearances.

Throughout those games, he exhibited a goals against average (GAA) of 3.71 and an underwhelming save percentage of .885.

Drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the sixth round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, Brattstrom has yet to make his NHL debut.

However, this upcoming season with HV71 presents an exciting opportunity for him to further showcase his talents in the Swedish Hockey League.

Before heading to North America in 2021-22, the 26-year-old played in the SM-Liiga in 2020-21, recording a .903 SV% and a 2.20 GAA across 38 games. Photo Credit: Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports
