Flyers Kevin Hayes On His Way Out of Philly

The Philadelphia Flyers will look much different next season as freshly minted general manager Daniel Briere has been tasked with trying to retool on the fly. The Flyers GM will be busy this summer making moves and trying to move out some veteran players. Briere confirmed recently, some players on the roster aren't necessarily the best fit in Philly.

Insert Kevin Hayes. The 31-year-old center has three seasons left on his contract at over $7 million per season. In 2022-23, Hayes produced 54 points in 81 games and the only reason he didn't play 82 games was the fact John Tortorella benched him for basically no reason. There's no secret Hayes wants out and Briere wants to make it happen.

So far there's been several teams linked to Hayes as the center market is very thin this summer. Teams who do have interest are the Columbus Blue Jackets, Boston Bruins, Carolina Hurricanes, Colorado Avalanche and Detroit Red Wings. There's little doubt Briere will have to retain some salary to make a deal work. The Avs and Blue Jackets may be the most desperate for another centerman at this point.

Hayes is out in Philly, are you surprised?
