Hurricanes Defenseman Finished In Carolina

An update on one of the Carolina Hurricanes' most notable unrestricted free agents has been provided. In a recent column for The Athletic, NHL insider Pierre LeBrun wrote that Shayne Gostisbehere "will not be re-signing with Carolina."

After a solid 2022-23 season, it makes sense that Gostisbehere is testing his value on the open market. He put up strong offensive totals, posting 13 goals and 41 points in 75 games played split between the Arizona Coyotes and Carolina Hurricanes. Teams looking for more offense from the point and a power-play specialist will surely consider Gostisbehere as an option. He is one of the top offensive defensemen available this offseason.

The Hurricanes are likely to look for defensive depth elsewhere due to this Gostisbehere news.

It will be intriguing to see where Gostisbehere ends up from here, but look for the Chicago Blackhawks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Calgary Flames, and New York Islanders to be among some of the teams in the mix for his services.
