Hurricanes Forward Let Go By Carolina, Becomes UFA
The Carolina Hurricanes have cut ties with forward Jesse Puljujarvi. He was a pending restricted free agent and will not be given a qualifying offer, making him an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Puljujarvi underwent double hip surgery recently and will not be available for several months. Because of his potential and flashes of brilliance, he'll receive some one-year offers over the next week or so.

Puljujarvi was originally a 4th overall pick in 2016 and wasn't able to find his game in Edmonton. He was given chance after chance among the top six and couldn't consistently produce. A move to Carolina last season resulted in zero goals and two assists in 17 games. He then was given a look on the 'Canes playoff roster and produced one assist in seven games.

Look for Puljujarvi to catch on with a rebuilding team like the San Jose Sharks, Chicago Blackhawks, Nashville Predators or Anaheim Ducks.
