Montreal Canadiens Contemplating 5 Trade Offers

The NHL Draft is in Nashville on Wednesday night and the Montreal Canadiens are a team to watch. The Habs select fifth and reportedly have been busy negotiating trades to see what they could land in a deal. According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, the Canadiens have as many as five trade offers they are reviewing for the 5th overall pick.

The Canadiens have already been busy acquiring Alex Newhook from the Colorado Avalanche and it's very likely we'll see another move from general manager Kent Hughes. Christian Dvorak is a name that's out there and available at the right price, so team's lacking center depth will be kicking tires. The Columbus Blue Jackets are desperate for help down the middle and will likely be adding Leo Carlsson to the mix. They could also be in the market for further help.

The 2023 draft is loaded with talent and any pick in the first two rounds essentially has first-round talent. The Canadiens hold nine selections in Nashville, including three fourth rounders and two fifth rounders.

As for Dvorak's potential trade destinations, the Blue Jackets, Ducks, Oilers, Penguins and Predators are all likely to have interest. Moving the fifth pick in a package with Dvorak could turn things up a notch for Hughes and the Canadiens.
