Montreal Canadiens Rumors: Draft-Day Trade Coming

Montreal Canadiens fans can expect some changes this summer as general manager Kent Hughes is currently working the phones. While nothing seems imminent at this time, look for the Canadiens to make a draft-day splash in Nashville.

According to Arpon Basu of the Athletic, the Canadiens are trying desperately to try and move up from the fifth overall position. They've had advanced talks with both the San Jose Sharks at #4 and the Anaheim Ducks at #2 but so far no bites.

The vibe is the Canadiens loves Adam Fantilli and Swedish center Leo Carlsson and both players could be taken before the draft gets to Hughes at #5. Fantilli won the Hobey Baker trophy as the best NCAA player and went on to represent Canada at the World Championships. He's a can't miss prospect who has #1 center written all over him. The same can be said for Carlsson who is a dynamic 200-foot player and is NHL ready right now.

Montreal will be busy this offseason and their first move could be coming in the next week or so. They've also been linked to Winnipeg Jets forward Pierre-Luc Dubois so this is also something to keep an eye on.
