NHL Rumors: 3 Free-Agent Destinations for Max Comtois
The Anaheim Ducks are not expected to send Max Comtois a qualifying offer. Thus, we should expect to see the winger become a UFA on July 1. A change of scenery is certainly needed at this juncture, and let's discuss three clubs who could take a chance on him.
Montreal Canadiens: The Montreal Canadiens have been linked to Comtois before, and it would not be surprising if they pursue him. Montreal is still rebuilding, and they could look to bring in a 24-year-old winger like Comtois when noting his past success in the league.
Chicago Blackhawks: The Chicago Blackhawks have been aggressive this offseason, adding Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno. They have a ton of cap space to work with still, and it seems possible that they could bring in a player like Comtois because of it. He would have the chance of a top-nine role there.
Calgary Flames: The Calgary Flames have already parted ways with Tyler Toffoli, and more moves are expected to follow. Thus, they need forwards, and they could look to target Comtois because of it. He would be a decent option for their third line.
