NHL Rumors: Milan Lucic to the Boston Bruins

The Calgary Flames let Milan Lucic go this summer as the team is heading in a new direction in a lot of areas. The Boston Bruins are another team who will undergo serious change this offseason, but it sounds like they are open to reunions with former players.

According to multiple reports the Bruins and Lucic are set for a new contract on July 1 when free agency opens. The Flames gave Lucic permission to begin talking with other teams and while there's a lot of interest, including from the Anaheim Ducks and Toronto Maple Leafs, it sounds like he's going back 'home'.

Lucic appeared in 77 games last season, recording 19 points. He played great at the World Championships for Team Canada once the season was over and admitted the experience was to get some more playing time and showcase his skills as he was expecting to be a free agent this summer.

The Bruins are in cap hell and aren't expecting Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci back. They dealt Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno to Chicago and are expected to re-sign Tyler Bertuzzi in the coming days. Boston's left wingers next season will likely be Brad Marchand, Tyler Bertuzzi, AJ Greer and Lucic.
