NHL Rumors: Oilers & Blues Becoming Possible Trading Partners
The Edmonton Oilers are looking to improve the right side of their defensive group, They have been linked to Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Brett Pesce because of this, but it appears that he is not their only option. According to The Fourth Period, the Oilers are also linked to Colton Parayko.
Changes are coming to the Blues' roster this summer after a disastrous 2022-23 season. It has been heavily rumored that one of their big-name defensemen will be dealt, with Parayko leading the list of possibilities. When noting that he is a big-bodied, right-shot defenseman, he is going to receive plenty of interest if officially shopped. Thus, it makes sense that the Oilers are considering the top-four defenseman.
Parayko would be an upgrade over Cody Ceci in the team's top four. However, Parayko also has an expensive cap hit, so the Oilers would either need to send players to St. Louis or elsewhere.
Alas, it will be fun to see if the Oilers end up making a big push for Parayko from here. On paper, there seems to be a good match here.
