NY Rangers to Name New Head Coach
The New York Rangers are looking for a new bench boss and some dominoes may have finally fallen in their favor. General manager Chris Drury has been busy interviewing a number of candidates after the team let Gerard Gallant go at their season. Now the attention shifts as the coaching movement continues.
It’s no longer a secret, but from what I’ve heard it sounds like things have moved in a very positive direction between #NYR and John Hynes.

The Rangers have been granted permission to speak to former Nashville Predators head coach John Hynes. Hynes was recently shown the door as the Preds hired Andrew Brunette as their new leader. Brunette has a rich history with the Predators organization and scored the very first goal in franchise history.
As for Hynes, he quickly becomes Drury's guy. The two know each other very well from their days together playing for Boston University. Hynes is 48 years old and has a coaching record of 284-254-63. He's known as a great communicator and has experience with the Preds and also from being behind the bench of the New Jersey Devils for just over four seasons. Drury and Hynes reunion, coming soon.
