Ottawa Senators Rumors: New Teams Enters Alex DeBrincat Sweepstakes

After moving out Josh Bailey's contract, the New York Islanders have money to play with this summer. Adding a scoring winger is a major necessity for them, and it appears that they one on their radar. According to David Pagnotta, the Islanders have "kicked tires on" Ottawa Senators star Alex DeBrincat.

The Senators are actively shopping DeBrincat. He has made it known that he does not want to sign a long-term extension with the Senators, and he will be eligible for unrestricted free agency next year. Thus, the Senators need to act quickly to move him. With the Islanders desperately needing a scorer, they may be the club that gives Ottawa what they are looking for.

DeBrincat would be an excellent addition to their top line with Mat Barzal and Bo Horvat. That would make the Islanders look significantly stronger on paper, as they would finally have a legitimate sniper to help improve their scoring issues.

In 82 games this past season with the Senators, DeBrincat posted 27 goals and 66 points.

We will need to wait and see if the Islanders end up landing him from here.
