Philadelphia Flyers Close to Another Huge Trade
The Philadelphia Flyers are going to look much different next season as general manager Daniel Briere is committed to changing the culture in Philly. Briere has wasted no time, already moving Ivan Provorov in a blockbuster three-way trade, and word is, another deal is coming.
Briere was a guest on the Ray & Dregs podcast with Ray Ferraro and Darren Dreger and had this to say:
Adding another first-round pick this year in the Provorov trade gets our amateur scouts really excited to have two cracks at it. I don't know how active I'm gonna be. It's easy to say that, 'Yeah, I want to be active.' But you need a dancing partner - sometimes two, like in the last trade - to make things happen. We're gonna try to make things happen, but sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
The Flyers have been most active trying to move Travis Konecny, Kevin Hayes, Carter Hart and Scott Laughton. They are looking for a first-round pick in any move as Briere has his mind made up on team development. The Flyers will be trying to draft and develop their next core.
Philadelphia has had a lack of direction these past few seasons and missed the playoffs each year. Now, Briere is given a clean slate and Flyers fans are hopeful his five-year plan works out for everyone cheering on the black and orange.
