Philadelphia Flyers Rumors: Contender Enters Carter Hart Sweepstakes
The Philadelphia Flyers made their first major trade of the offseason, moving Ivan Provorov to the Columbus Blue Jackets. It has also been reported that they are actively working on a Carter Hart trade, and it appears that a new team has entered the mix – the Edmonton Oilers.
Jamey Baskow of flyersnittygritty.com specifically noted that the Oilers are a team to watch in the sweepstakes.
The Oilers brought in Jack Campbell last offseason with the expectation that he would be their long-term starting goalie. However, he struggled immensely during his first year as an Oiler, and Stuart Skinner has since taken over his spot as the club's starter. As a result, it is not too surprising to hear that Edmonton could have Hart on their radar, as he would give them a serious upgrade at the starter role.
The biggest obstacle for the Oilers in a potential Hart trade is their limited cap space. They would need to move out salary, with players like Kailer Yamamoto and Brett Kulak being prime trade candidates.
We will need to wait and see if the Oilers can make a major move and bring in Hart from here.
