Revealed: Alex DeBrincat's Preferred Teams Trade List

The rumors have been heating up on the hot stove as the offseason kicks into gear: where will Ottawa Senators forward Alex DeBrincat be dealt? Word started to circulate recently that the Sens want to get a deal done by the Draft next week.

We've known that the two-time 40-goal scorer had a preferred list of teams that he'd sign with submitted to the Senators; now that list has been revealed by Senators Insider Bruce Garrioch. According to the report, the list looks like this:

  • Dallas Stars
  • Detroit Red Wings
  • Florida Panthers
  • Nashville Predators
  • Vegas Golden Knights
Sportsnet Insider Elliotte Friedman recently called the Red Wings "a team to watch" on the DeBrincat front, and TSN's Craig Button was also quoted as favouring the Red Wings as an ideal trade partner for Ottawa. “I think Detroit is a great place to explore for the Senators. They have a prospect list that’s really deep. Whether it be prospects or draft picks, it would be very interesting to see where they could carve out a deal,” said Button.

With the Golden Knights hitting a snag in trying to re-sign UFA Ivan Barbashev, DeBrincat could be a great fit there as well, and fill that void up-front quite well.

The Senators don't have a first-round pick at next week's Draft, which could explain their urgency to get a deal done by then, to get themselves into the mix by securing picks in return for DeBrincat.

Detroit holds the No. 9 selection in the Draft, Nashville has two first-rounders at 15th and 24th, while the Stanley Cup champs have the last pick in the opening round.
